Four Special Olympics Singapore athletes had the opportunity to play in friendly unified doubles matches with the Singapore National Badminton players last Saturday, as part of the Li-Ning Youth International Series 2011.

The Singapore Badminton Association invited the athletes to be part of the tournament’s activities, matching each athlete with a National player to make a unified pair.

Featured Team Singapore shuttlers included four recent medalists in the Southeast Asian Games — Derek Wong, Shinta Mulia Sari, Fu Ming Tian and Yao Lei. Their athlete partners were Mohd. Rausyan, Salihin Sinai, Tan Too Sheng, and Rachel Lee. Rausyan won a Gold medal in Badminton Singles and Silver in Badminton Doubles at this year’s Special Olympics World Summer Games, while Salihin, Too Sheng and Rachel have competed in local badminton tournaments.
