Expanding Unified Schools in Morocco

Expanding Unified Schools in Morocco

Mohamed and Ibrahim are Special Olympics Youth Leaders from Morocco who participated in the 2019 Global Youth Leadership Summit. Together, Mohamed and Ibrahim will lead a Youth Innovation Project to increase the number of Unified Schools in Morocco. Inspired by the courage of the athletes at the 2019 Special Olympics World Games, Mohamed and Ibrahim hope that this project expands the Unified Sports opportunities in Morocco and encourages more Youth Leaders to join the Unified Generation.

Over the course of the next year, Mohamed and Ibrahim plan to visit four schools to present about Special Olympics and host Unified competitions to show the power of Unified Sports. Mohamed and Ibrahim will empower 30 new Youth Leaders to assist them in spreading the message of inclusion at local schools and aim to engage 100 youth with and without intellectual disabilities in their Unified Sports events. By the end of their project, Mohamed and Ibrahim hope to have five new Unified Schools in Morocco guided by the Youth Leaders engaged during their project. By directly working with new Youth Leaders to advocate for Unified Sports in their schools, Mohamed and Ibrahim are empowering the Unified Generation to take ownership over spreading inclusion in their schools and community.
