Staying Connected and Fit at Home in Lithuania

Mija and Erikas are Special Olympics Youth Leaders from Lithuania who will lead a Youth Innovation Project to keep Special Olympics athletes and fellow Youth Leaders physically fit and virtually connected during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Mija and Erikas are motivated to start this project because they have witnessed firsthand the decreasing levels of physical activity among athletes in their community.  The Youth Leaders intend on producing inclusive virtual fitness sessions. They believe this emphasis on inclusion in virtual physical fitness sessions is imperative to inspiring other calls for inclusion within their communities in Lithuania.

Over the course of 2 months, Mija and Erikas plan to release fitness sessions three times a week while everyone is connected virtually.  Mija and Erikas will create their own physical chart tailored to individuals with intellectual disabilities so that they are able to reference it during and after group sessions.  Mija and Erikas are modeling inclusion for those within their own community and beyond as  they grow the Unified Generation in Lithuania.
