Technology and exercise to promote wellness in Macau
Chi Hong and Sio Hong are Special Olympics Youth Leaders from Macau who will lead a Youth Innovation Project with the goal of reducing stress in young people with and without intellectual disabilities through technology-based solutions. Chi Hong and Sio Hong want to encourage an active lifestyle and ensure easy access to sports activities, even in adverse conditions such as a crowded gyms or poor weather. Chi Hong and Sio Hong plan to create their exercise program using motion-sensing technology to mitigate the likelihood of adverse conditions affecting regular participation in their activities.
Over the course of three months, Chi Hong and Sio Hong will create their motion-sensing workout program through the development and selection of exercises, the purchase and testing of devices, and the locating of space in which to host their trial work out classes. Chi Hong and Sio Hong will recruit and train volunteers to help lead the classes. Chi Hong and Sio Hong will promote their program through social media in order to increase awareness and interest in their project. Through their project, Chi Hong and Sio Hong will encourage over one hundred Youth with and without intellectual disabilities to become advocates for the health and wellness of the Unified Generation.
