Technology Training to Empower the Unified Generation

Isaac is a Special Olympics Youth Leader from Ghana leading a Youth Innovation Project to empower other young leaders of the Unified Generation with and without intellectual disabilities through training in Information and Communication Technology. By developing critical technology skills, Isaac believes that participating youth leaders will expand their potential impact to create a more inclusive world.

To organize school-based computer trainings, Isaac will conduct outreach to community partners and to local schools, where he believes students with and without intellectual disabilities will be excited to expand their technology skills. With these students, Isaac will lead workshops on computer skills and Information and Communication Technology (e.g. mouse control, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Paint etc.) to improve computer manipulation skills and digital literacy. With the skills they learn, these students will be empowered to be more active digital leaders for inclusion in their schools and communities.

Through his project, Isaac will work to increase awareness about Special Olympics, promote togetherness between children with and without intellectual disabilities and create Information and Communication Technology clubs in participating schools. Through Isaac’s leadership, youth with and without intellectual disabilities in Ghana will increase the impact of their work for inclusion in their communities and – through the power of technology – around the world.
