Inclusive Cooking for Health and Inclusion
Román is a Special Olympics Youth Leader from Venezuela who will lead a Youth Innovation Project to hold four Inclusive cooking workshops where pairs of young people with and without intellectual disabilities will learn how to properly cook and prepare healthy and low-budget meals. Guest chefs will lead the workshops and give the Unified pairs the chance to get to know each other and learn to work together as a team.
Over the course of three months, Román will have 12 young chefs with and without disabilities take part in his workshops and after this first session he plans to expand the project to a national scale. Román hopes that his workshops will promote healthy living and smart nutritional choices amongst the Unified pairs allowing them to learn how to take care of themselves and their bodies as they learn a valuable skill. Román is using his Inclusive cooking workshops to empower the Unified Generation by helping them be more independent, giving them a comfortable environment to express themselves and encouraging learning through inclusion.
